When the Hands became a Temple
When the Hands became a Temple
This drawing was inspired after hearing a meditation reflecting on a special moment in the Nativity; St. Joseph, foster father of our redeemer, holds the Christ child for the first time. This is the moment when God allowed himself to be touched by man, to be taken into the arms of his own creation, to be held near and dear. It was in this moment that St. Joseph's humble carpenter hands, with the Immaculate Virgin Mary's, became a temple for the living God.
Created along with two others, the Elevation of the Eucharist and the Pieta, to make up the When Hands became Temples series. All of these drawings feature intimate moments where God allows the hands of man to become his dwelling place.
May we all realize how very special and honored we are by our Creator for him to desire such intimacy with us, no matter what we have done or the ways we have failed. Let us always hold Christ so tenderly and close to our hearts.
